Live; Don’t Run Away

Traversing pass thousands of stars.
The river erases everything even scars.

Greedily holding onto this one, lonely sunset
We burn our hands. The way barred by a lack
Of dreams and a melancholy sickness. Hack
And cough up the ilk we take as our regiment.

Who knows what’s right any longer?
A masquerade that never ends despite
All of the tears behind carbon masks.
We see the headlines reading our wounds,
Self-inflicted and left to go septic.
Run in circles and scream for change
From ourselves; it’s only our fault.

When we take off the masks we’re fearful
Of everyone else. The monsters in our heads
Were born when we fell so low to the floor.

Between the burn and the fall gain humility.
Entertain the idea that we all might be wrong
In this expansive universe. Dreams so strong
They can shatter through our false reality.

If we keep heading in the same direction we will reach where we’re headed. We can hope for a miracle or forget the bad but that ain’t an answer. Face the darkest and brightest day with the same desire to see tomorrow. ~ Don’t follow those that can’t discern their heart from a crowd. Because the worst thing we can become is numb and dismissive.

Life’s No Game, Progress Can’t Be Saved

Cross the line between the ventricles,
A gunshot to end the show with coins
Upon tired eyes acting as the curtains.
These eyes are closed behind reticles.

The path forward for fools of circumstance,
Saints and sinners alike, lights hearts afire.

Nothing gained without sacrifice. A roll of the dice
Holds onto our destiny. Take a chance or a step back.
Sometimes the gamble deepens the debt, be wise
When the price is no longer yours to bear. Step back.

Life holds true beauty for the selfless wanderers that dare
To care about others without a word. Just learn to share.

The Change Between

There’s a hope found in the inferno blaze
Licking at these feet again. Pillage and raze
The city on a hill, our midsummer daze.

They said “Every flower will someday wilt,”
But nothing of their guilt. Indifference?
No. Ignorance, an unwillingness to accept
That things will always change with time.

A first cry turns into a broken tombstone;
Be you rich, poor, good, evil, lost or found.
Life is the change in between. We might be gone
With our first breath but we still make a sound.

How could that ever be right or wrong?
For even a dew-kissed rose has thorns.

The MAJI

These misguided efforts to overcome or change
An outcome is no more than a balancing act.
But who else would? The riddle of existence.

When others stand in your way clear the path,
Be them stronger, richer, or holier. Hell hath
No fury stronger than what hearts run on.
Not coal or oil. Blood and hope, life’s contagion.

I don’t bow and never will,
If power matters so much you’re unfit
To rule and you too must fade.

If the meek will ever rise we’re artifacts of an age
Long dead in terms of practicality. The war we wage
Never ends because we chase glory, our damage.

Brighter Skies

Between the truths that I’ve seen
And the words I’ve heard I find
Life. Stand up to see another day.

The darkest part of the evenin’
Beseeches the dawn. Stay keen,
We’re taking a journey through wind
And rain. Just don’t fall too far behind
Others need you. All you got to do is stay,
Be a beacon. Look forward in life’s fray.

It gets tough but we’re heading out for brighter skies.

To Fall

Falling from risen towers through the sky
To the sea. I never imagined I’d see through
The membrane of all I ever believed. A fall
So great all the seraphim, those we lost, cry.

In this sorrowful rain I recollect on the way
I lived. Regrets and joys are the things I pay
To see how fickle life truly is. No, I can’t stay.

This old path casts shadows I’ve grown accustomed to. I’ll fight
My way out trying to see light once more. I must change. . .

I’ve always loved the concept of falling in a metaphysical sense. We live lives like we’re creating miniature towers of Babel which eventually fall and rightfully so. We can blame others for the fall but only our hands did the masonry. A time comes that our hearts will lead us on a better path with our mind keeping us from going too far. The fall teaches us that individual gain doesn’t matter if we hurt others to reach it. But some hurt is unavoidable as we lose things once so dear to us in this life.

Defiant Hearts (A Spear of Light)

From ashes of a tree obsidian walls rise around.
A ghost conjuring tragedy. Don’t make a sound.

The Obsidian Lord feasts on the hysteria and fear.
Like exuberant birds scattered by a gunshot
We’re the prey in this great hunt. For every tear
They still offer us no mercy. Rage so hot
Burning the rope that we hold onto ever so dear
In hopes that we can find water. Caught
Between hurt and hope yet, tomorrow is so near.

From a well we can still replenish what’s been lost
In search of who we are. They don’t understand
What we have on the inside that keeps us going.

No matter the darkness standing right before us we walk
Without fear. Never give them an inch or they’ll talk and talk.

We can’t let them be victorious. Be defiant until your very last day.

The Inferno Slumbering Within

There were days I couldn’t find the right
Words to say. Old paths lost from sight,
Scars are all that remain after the blood dries,
And where I’m found resonates with our cries.
We both got back up from the hard-felt ground
With dirty knees and scrapes. Hear the sound:

This repeating heartbeat carrying the one true light
That we bleed at times. Some more than others,
Yeah I know how it feels. Like something smothers
Your spark before the flames can rise. It’s a fight.

Lets get back up as many times as it takes for our fires to burn brighter than the stars.

The Creators of Fate: Humanity

I walk among statues of the people I swore I’d defend. They all stare at the center of the city, the Citadel of Lost Dreams. A group of cloaked men walk to the entrance but stop to look at me. One of them in the back touches their shoulders making them collapse lifelessly. Shadows cover his face and still I could see his eyes. In his eyes radiates a white, illuminated fury.

When a darkness manifests from our hearts
Into existence it’s a blight of the World Tree.
We tried living on green plains and to be free
But we burned it all away. The story repeats.

Twelve blights forsake the roots fighting to live
Among desiccation. We only take and never give.

So will you change before it’s too late?

It takes just one act to change everything. . .

Of These White Flames

I spoke the lost truth born from the Loom
Of Woven Lies to avoid impending doom.

The reality we’re all too afraid to take witness,
But it’s there within the heaviness of our hearts.
Inside there is a war we wage that’ll never end
Because we never learn. I stand guilty as well.
My heart left calloused from attempts to see
While still blind. Words others said resonate
Like birds singing yet they’re nowhere now.

Why did they lie? I’m left here hung by their words,
My noose; the condemned convict left for the crows.
All I did was ask for the truth then they took swords
Against my existence. “All the stones a giant throws.”

I’ll burn in white flames until we can see eye to eye.
